Blackberries and Apples

Does anybody else get frustrated when thinking about technology or is it just me? I’m so confused by all the abbreviations, names of things(  gigabytes, megabytes or whatever they are called) etc. Can we please go back to simpler times when blackberries and apples were just fruits and nothing else?
Technology can be a good thing. I understand that. But it has also caused our society and world to become much more fast paced and less social. We now text someone instead of calling them, write on their facebook wall( when I was young if someone mentioned writing on a wall...it was usually followed by “ do that and you are in serious trouble!” ) for their birthday instead of calling them and wishing them happy birthday in a more personal way.  I long for the days when people would actually hang out in person, get to know each other personally and have real relationships with people instead of getting to know each other over the internet.
Take a minute and think of your Facebook friends. How many of them do you actually talk to outside of Facebook? How many of them do you really know and have real relationships with?
If this is now, imagine the future? Is this the kind of social life you want your children to have? Where they don’t talk to their friends except over the internet and texting? I know I don’t want that for my children( if I am ever blessed with any). I want them to have real and true relationships with real and true people.
The change must start with us.
I encourage everyone to start putting more effort into actually getting to know your friends personally instead of getting to know them over the internet. Pick up the phone and give people a call, arrange a coffee date or go for a walk. If that’s not possible( because if you are anything like me you have friends from all over the world) arrange a skype date.
I really am looking forward to getting to know more of my friends personally and having a real and true relationship with them. It is just so much better!
Make the effort, pick up the phone, go for a walk, or just hang out and talk! It’s so much better then texting or chatting over facebook!
Shalom!

Gluten free, Dairy free, MSG free...whats left?!

My life has turned flippity floppy the past few months! It’s crazy but Baruch HaShem that I am doing much better!
This past summer I started feeling sick. I kept pushing it aside though because I was working long hours and didn’t have time to be sick. I thought it was from the very little sleep I was getting. In August my friend talked me into going to a youth camp. While at camp I started getting sicker (I had a headache every single day and I also felt like throwing up every day...it was not fun). In the weeks following camp I started losing weight and feeling less then my normal self. At this point I decided that I should see a doctor (I avoid doctors like the plague...). A few simple blood tests and I had my diagnosis....
“You have Celiac Disease”
To give you a rundown of Celiac Disease, it basically means that I cannot have gluten. Gluten is found in wheat, barley, rye and spelt among a whole whack of other things. So that meant cutting out pasta, bread...well just read food labels and you will get the idea! Hehe
I already am Lactose Intolerant, and cannot eat MSG or anything with preservatives. So my first thought was “What am I going to eat? Dairy, Gluten and MSG are in EVERYTHING! “Overnight I developed a very special and high needs diet.
I need to read food labels alot more carefully, research what foods I can have and cannot have. Every day is a learning process but I have decided to enjoy this adventure and to have fun with it! God created me and I am fearfully and wonderfully made. So why would I sulk about the way the He created me?
Just because I cannot eat alot of foods is no reason to be upset, there are still alot of foods that I can eat and that is what I should be thankful for!
Count your blessings every day, count your many blessings name them one by one!
You are fearfully and wonderfully made. You are not a mistake.  You were made with love by a very loving creator. He made you exactly the way He wanted you. You are the way you are for a reason. You were made by His purpose and for His purpose. Rejoice in the way you are. Don’t try to change the way you are! You are BEAUTIFUL and LOVED! You are TREASURED, you are SACRED, you ARE HIS! Throw out all the lies that you are holding inside yourself. They are nothing in the shadow of the cross(From the song Beautiful by MercyMe.)
Father, I come before you now and pray that you break all the lies that everyone who reads this is holding inside them. Help them to understand that they are beautiful and loved, that they are your precious treasure and that they are sacred. Help them to feel your love, embrace them in your love. In Yeshua’s name, Amen.

To end this post I am going to share a recipe that a friend from Manitoba shared with me. It’s Gluten and Dairy free and it tastes ohhhh sooooo AMAZING!

Hei Friends!
I must admit, I have been thinking of starting a blog for a long time but have keep putting it off. Lately I have been thinking of deleting my Facebook account. I decided that having a blog would give me another way to stay in touch with people if I do end up deleting my Facebook in the near future.
My blog is called Glede av Livet. Glede av Livet means Joy of Life. After struggling with and overcoming mild depression in my life, It is so wonderful to say I have glede( joy) in my life!  I hope this blog can be an encouragement to people!
Blessings and Shalom!
